Archbishop Ieronymos attended the concert dedicated to the Fall of Constantinople

Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece attended the concert, entitled “The City Has Fallen“, on Wednesday evening, May 29, 2019. The concert was organized by the Ecclesiastical Foundation for Byzantine and Traditional Music of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens, and took place in the Benizelou Mansion, Plaka.

The concert was dedicated to the Fall of Constantinople with songs from Pontus, Rumelia, and all over Greece.

Director General of the Foundation Archim. Irenaeus Nakos gave the welcome speech.

Director General, Archim. Irenaeus Nakos, and the professors, Stavros Chaliampalias & Panagiotis Sdoukos, performed in the commemoration concert while the KANON Orchestra of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens will accompany them under the direction of Georgios Demelis.

“It is a very emotional moment since we feel both sad and happy. We feel sad because it is a sad day due to the Fall of Constantinople. However, we also feel happy in order to feel better this emotional moment. Our people has this particular trait. Our people will easily feel happy and sad because of its spark in its soul. Our Music Academy sent us this particular spark tonight,” Archbishop Ieronymos said in his greeting.

Bishop Symeon of Thespies and Protosyncellus of the Archdiocese of Athens, Director General for Personnel of the Archdiocese Protopresbyterian Anastasios Vlavianos, Deacon of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens Fr. Dimitrios Fokianos, Director of the Archbishop’s Private Office Ioannis Tsouras, Director of the Benizelou Mansion, Georgios Theodoropoulos, priests and dozens of people attended the commemoration concert.
