The Vatican announced today, ahead of Easter, that all Holy Week ceremonies will be held without the presence of faithful at St. Peter’s Square because of the new coronavirus epidemic.

“Due to the current global health emergency, all Holy Week ceremonies will be held without the physical presence of the faithful,” the Vatican said.

The same announcement states that “until April 12” all prayers and services at St. Peter’s Square will be broadcast live from the official Vatican News website, as the faithful will not be able to attend them.
