US Ambassador in Athens Geoffrey Pyatt met with the core team of the new international religion news agency, Romfea.news.

The US Ambassador welcomed in his ambassadorial residence Romfea.news strategy advisor Emilios Polygenis, the representative of the owning company World Orthodox Network in Athens Ioannis Manasis, editor in chief of Romfea.news Efthimia Efthimiou and workflow managers Thanos Thanopoulos, N. Georgakopoulou and A. Chrysanthopoulos.

In a half-hour meeting, Geoffrey Pyatt had the opportunity to exchange views with Romfea.news team and discuss the press freedom and the obligation of the media to guarantee reliable information. They also talked about the developments and the presence of Orthodoxy in the Balkans and the rest of the world.

The US Ambassador to Athens underlined that he is aware of the work already done by Romfea.gr and that the US encourage efforts to promote press freedom and fight disinformation. He congratulated the Romfea.news contributors for their efforts to advance the values of Orthodoxy, which are compatible with the democratic values of the USA, and the freedom of religion in the Christian world, as he pointed out.

For their part, the Romfea.news team thanked the US Ambassador for the meeting and underlined their attachment to the values of press freedom and multidimensional information, focusing on the ever-sensitive field of religious belief.
