Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Moscow Patriarchate retains its name

The Supreme Court of Ukraine dismissed the appeal filed by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, which claimed that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP) must be renamed, allowing the Church led by Metropolitan Onufriy to retain its name.

On December 11, the Supreme Court of Ukraine examined the case and decided not to accept the appeal filed by the Ministry of Culture but to accept the opinions of the courts of first instance.

“Since the non-application of such measures can significantly complicate or even render impossible the enforcement of the judgment, if the requirement is satisfied, and complicate the effective protection and restitution of the rights and interests of the plaintiff in respect of which he has appealed to the court,” indicates, inter alia, the ruling of the Supreme Court.
