The Patriarch of Russia honoured Ivan Savvidis

Businessman Ivan Savvidis was honoured by the Russian Patriarch Kirill for his contribution to the renovation of the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Rostov-on-Don.

According to ethnos.gr, Patriarch Kirill presided over the archieratic Divine Liturgy yesterday at the renovated Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and then an Agiasmos service followed for the church’s renovation. After the ceremony, he honoured Ivan Savvidis with a medal title for his practical support in the work of renovating the temple.

The Patriarch of Russia visited yesterday the Church of the Annunciation, which was built with the support of the Ivan Savvidis Charitable Foundation and the Greek community of Russia.

The Russian businessman and president of the Association of Greek Communities of Russia welcomed Patriarch Kirill at the entrance of the church. He outlined the stages of the church’s construction and history while pointing out its importance to the spiritual life of the city.
