The new President of Ukraine to Metropolitan Epiphanius

New President of Ukraine Volodymyr Aleksandrovich Zelensky and Metropolitan Epiphanius

On April 30, 2019, the new President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Aleksandrovich Zelensky met with the head of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Metropolitan Epiphanius.

The primate of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Ukraine congratulated the elected head of State for his election to the highest office of the country.

Zelensky, for his part, expressed his hope for the continuation of the well-meaning relations between the Church and the State.

During the meeting, the problems faced by the Ukrainians, in particular the long-standing conflict with Russia in the eastern region of Donbass, were discussed.

Issues in the fight against corruption and poverty were also discussed.

Metropolitan Epiphanius gave to the elected President a version – reprint of the first and full printed text of the New Testament in the Old Church Slavonic.
