The honorary “Patriarch” Filaret took the office of the Province Commander of Kiev after a synodical decision

The Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Church at its first session decided that the honorary “Patriarch” Filaret will remain commander of the province of Kiev and shall maintain all the churches he had in his possession.

According to a communiqué, and at the suggestion of the Metropolitan Epiphanius of Kiev, Metropolitan Simeon of Vinnitsa was approved as the chief secretary of the Holy Synod.

Moreover, by paying special attention to the importance of the development of external ecclesiastical relationships, the Holy Synod decided to create a department headed by the Metropolitan Epiphanius of Kiev.

It is worth mentioning that Archbishop Kliment of Simferopol and Crimea was appointed head of the department of assistance to victims of human rights violations and persons deprived of their freedom in the occupied territories of Ukraine.

Finally, the Holy Synod decided to exclude Metropolitan Alexander (Drabinko) of Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky and Vishnevoye who left the Church of Ukraine of Patriarchate of Moscow.
