One cannot achieve spiritual levels instantly nor easily, but only after many hardships and struggles and years of trials and temptations, to the perfect level of apathy.
Thus, after facing pain and toil, and suffering courageously all the temptations of wickedness, one is claimed to receive the great honours and gifts of the Holy Spirit and divine wealth. He then becomes heir to the Kingdom of Heaven.
With the grace of the Holy Spirit, each of us gains the salvation of his soul. But we also need to contribute our own labours.
