The Feast of the Transfiguration in the Koutloumousiou Monastery

The Transfiguration of the Lord was celebrated solemnly in Koutloumousiou Monastery in Mount Athos.

Hundreds of pious pilgrims and monks went to the Holy Monastery and attended the vigil in the morning of the feast day.

At the invitation of the Holy Monastery, Metropolitan Makarios of Anaea presided over the Divine Liturgy.

Bishop Nikiforos of Amorium concelebrated the Divine Liturgy with the Metropolitan.

The Metropolitan spoke of the Feast of the Transfiguration comparing the feast with the life of the monk saying that the monk’s life has always been the struggle to achieve inner transformation from the Tabor light.

Archimandrite Christodoulos thanked the Metropolitan for his love to the monastery.

Archimandrite Elder Ephraim welcomed them to Vatopedi Monastery and they had the opportunity to speak about Saint Joseph the Hesychast.

Elder Nathanael welcomed them to Iviron Monastery and they paid their respects to the holy icon of Panagia Portaitissa.

The fathers of the Holy Monastery welcomed them to Stavronikita Monastery and paid their respects to the holy icon of Saint Nicholas Stridas.
