The “favourites” received clear confirmation in the elections to the Metropolises of the Church of Greece

The procedures for electing three new Metropolitans were completed without any surprise.

The favourites once again confirmed their momentum and the three candidates, who were deemed favourites, were elected with no difficulties.

The Protosyncellus of the Archdiocese of Athens, Bishop Symeon of Thespies, was elected Metropolitan of Fthiotida with 62 votes. His candidacy has obtained an absolute majority of the votes cast, which shows that Archbishop Ieronymos has to deal with no tide of opposition within the Hierarchy.

By receiving 74 votes, it was confirmed that Archimandrite Ieronymos Karmas was the favourite for the Metropolis of Kalavrita and Aigialeia. It has also demonstrated that the Hierarchy recognized his long service in the Secretariat of the Holy Synod.

Archimandrite Hierotheos Kalogeropoulos was elected Metropolitan of Lemnos with 61 votes. This has shown that, when they all share a common goal, then this goal can bring groups of Metropolitans from different backgrounds together.
