Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew will travel to Athens next week, at the invitation of Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece.

The Ecumenical Patriarch will inaugurate the “Agios Porphyrios” Center for Gerontology and Welfare Support, in the presence of President of the Hellenic Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos.

According to Romfea.gr, Archbishop Ieronymos will welcome Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to the seat of the Holy Archdiocese on May 22.

The two primates will have a crucial meeting behind closed doors in order to discuss the main topic, that is the stance of the Church of Greece to the issue of the autocephaly of the Church of Ukraine, while they will talk about other issues related to the two Churches, such the issue of St. Georgios Church in Ktima Prompona.

However, in his letter to the Archbishop, the Ecumenical Patriarch describes his visit as an opportunity for “conducting a fraternal dialogue, thawing mutual relation, and discussing issues of mutual interest for the common good”.

Finally, on Thursday, the Holy Synod will hold a luncheon in honour of the Ecumenical Patriarch. The Ecumenical Patriarch will depart for the Phanar on Friday.
