The exams for the Certificate of Attainment in Greek were postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic at the beginning of October, which are held this time every year under the responsibility of the Center for the Greek Language (KEG) in Europe, the USA, Canada, South America, North and South Africa, Asia, Australia and Greece.
However, the competent body for the promotion and support of the Greek language, which is supervised by the Greek Ministry of Education and Religions, is currently reaping the benefits of digital tools – this work has been carried out for two decades – and taking advantage of strategic partnerships, such as that with the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, in order to be able to support these actions remotely under these special circumstances.
In this context, under the auspices of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, two teleseminars of KEG were held on May 9 and 16; a presentation of “Routes in the Greek language” and information on the “Examinations for the Certificate of Attainment in Greek Worldwide”. A total of 300 teachers from various states in the United States attended the seminars, presented by KEG President, Professor Ioannis Kazazis.
“Diadromes” (meaning “Routes”) is the standard program of the Greek Ministry of Education for the training of teachers in the teaching of Greek as a second/foreign language.
