Synod declaration against violence by the Patriarchate of Alexandria

The proceedings of the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Alexandria were completed yesterday, with the issuance of a Synod Declaration condemning all forms of violence and injustice, following the latest attacks in northern Syria.

“It is inconceivable to boast that we have advanced to such a scientific level and to tolerate or be indifferent to the human injustice of our fellow men, violence, criminality, and any form of exploitation,” the Patriarchate’s statement reads.

The presentation by Bishop Prodromos of Toliara on “Proposed applications of modern technology in the exercise of Ecclesiastical work in the African Continent today” preceded.

Concluding the proceedings of the Synod, Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria warmly thanked all the hierarchs of the Patriarchate for “the sacrificial pastoral work they carry out in the African Continent”, expressing his gratitude to them for their practical love and great sense of responsibility.

Before the end of the meeting, Patriarch Theodore informed the Hierarchy of his telephone communication with Patriarch John of Antioch, in which he expressed support of both himself and the Holy Synod’s for the new ordeal affecting the latter’s jurisdiction.
