The Holy Church celebrates today the Synaxis of the Supreme Commanders Michael, Gabriel and Raphael and the other Heavenly Bodiless Powers.
Archangel Michael saw Eosphoros (Lucifer) and his Order, the first Order of Αngels, falling from Paradise, when he thought, out of arrogance, that he could ascend higher than the omnipotence of God.
Then, Archangel Michael called on all heavenly powers to remain firm in the will of God and to praise God, saying, “Let us stand upright, let us stand with fear: let us take heed to present the holy offering in peace.”.
The faithful, remembering this sacred attitude of the nine Orders of Angels, who firmly established themselves in the good and consistently serve the charity of God for man’s sake, are the festive Synaxis of the Angels.
