Students from the Patriarchate of Serbia at Metropolitan of Corfu

On Wednesday, August 28, 2019, students from the Patriarchate of Serbia with their accompanying teachers visited Metropolitan Nektarios of Corfu, Paxos and Diapontian Islands.

Metropolitan Nektarios welcomed the students and the teachers to Corfu, emphasizing the two elements that link the Greek to the Serbian people, Orthodox faith and historical ties.

Corfu, in particular, during World War II, not only welcomed, but also treated Serbian soldiers and civilians persecuted by the Central Powers (or Central Empires: Germany, Austria-Hungary, Ottoman Empire and Bulgaria).

In concluding, the Metropolitan wished the Serbian pupils and teachers to be blessed with the grace of the Triune God.

It is worth noting that the Holy Metropolis of Corfu, Paxos and the Diapontian Islands has hosted Serbian students at its summer camps in Kassiopi.
