Hundreds of believers thronged the Church of St. George in Grenoble, in eastern France, on Sunday.

The faithful of the Greek Community in Grenoble celebrated the memory of Thomas the Apostle and Great Martyr Irene, as well as the memory of Holy and Great Martyr Georgios, to whom the church is dedicated.

Bishop Maximos of Melitene presided at the Matins service and the Divine Liturgy. In his homily, he referred to the martyrdom of the Saints and the martyrdom of modern Christians in the Middle and Far East, and in West Africa.

He extended the warmest greetings, on behalf of Metropolitan Emmanuel of France, to the congregation and to the Chief of the Church, Fr. Gerasimos Skartsis.
