The meeting of Serbian Church chiefs with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and the President of Republika Srpska of Bosnia Herzegovina, Milorad Dodik lasted two-and-a-half hours.

At the end of the meeting, the Patriarch and the two Presidents made statements to the journalists in the Patriarchal Megaron.

“We talked with our dear President for two and a half hours and paid special attention to the issue of Kosovo. We are convinced that the situation is difficult and that it is unclear whether this problem will be solved,” said Patriarch Irenej.

Also, the Patriarch added: “We will fight and hope that God will help us. Our President is heroically fighting for Kosovo and I have no doubt about his good intentions. I also admire the way he prays to God to give him power to do his best.”

The President of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milorad Dodik, noted that “today’s dialogue was very useful. But without all Serbs on our side, the important issue of Kosovo cannot be solved.”

Serbian President Vucic, for his part, spoke of a frank dialogue, although some bishops did not agree.

“We spoke openly and honestly. The Church has its own views, which we must listen to. Before us, it was a difficult time. I understood the concerns of the Patriarch as well as of the entire Church”, said the President of Serbia.
