Serbian Patriarch Irinej received in audience principals of Belgrade schools

Patriarch Irinej of Serbia hosted a reception for principals of elementary and secondary schools in the territory of the Archdiocese of Belgrade-Karlovac, at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade on December 12, 2019.

The festive reception began with Lord’s Prayer sung by a choir of students from the Faculty of Theology of the University of Belgrade, whereupon the Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church held a welcome speech.

Protopresbyter-staurophor Professor Dr. Dragomir Sando, President of the Catechetical Board of the Archdiocese of Belgrade-Karlovac, addressed the principals of schools and reminded that also this year the Patriarch opened doors of his residence for the principals of Belgrade schools in order to discuss the common duty of educating young people.

Greetings on behalf of the Ministry of Education were conveyed by Dr. Aleksandar Pajic, Special Advisor in charge of Secondary Education and Adult Education, who emphasized that the cooperation of the Ministry of Education and the Church was very good, that the effort was great to establish common values upon which the society was to be based, namely: family, education and the Church.

The reception was also attended by Assistant Minister for Preschool and Primary Education Dr. Milan Pasic. The Christmas carols were sung by students of the Vatroslav Lisinski Music School.
