Resurrection at Mount Athos and Vatopedi Monastery

Amidst a festive and glorifying atmosphere, in the spirit of the byzantine ceremonial of Mount Athos, the Resurrection of Christ was celebrated at the Holy Great Vatopedi Monastery, in the presence of the Civil administrator of Mount Athos, Konstantinos Dimtsas.

During the Resurrection Holy Liturgy, which began at 9:00 in the evening of Holy Saturday, and was completed on Sunday dawn, the Primate of the Monastery, Archimandrite Elder Ephraim presided the Service, while there participated the brotherhood and hundreds of pilgrims from Greece and abroad.

During the Easter festive dinner, Mr. Dimtsas conveyed the best wishes of the Greek government to the Authorities of Mount Athos, the Holy Community, the Great Monasteries and brotherhoods, stressing that the Greek State, in particular the Greek government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, express their deepest reverence to Mount Athos, because not only does it preserve and safeguard our holy traditions but it also serves as a source of spiritual rebirth and regenerration in times of intellectual confusion and poverty.
