Today, Saturday, May 25, the name day of the Primate of the Autocephalous Church of Ukraine, Metropolitan Epiphanius, was celebrated in a festive atmosphere at St. Michael Cathedral, Kiev.
Metropolitan Epiphanius presided the polyarchieratic Divine Liturgy, assisted by many Hierarchs of the Autocephalous Church and Metropolitan Emmanuel of France.
Furthermore, the Holy Service was also held by delegates of Mount Athos Monasteries, while “Honorary Patriarch” Filaret Denishenko co-prayed from the Altar.
In his sermon, Metropolitan of France stressed the following: “You are indeed an Autocephalous Church, because you did not hesitate to honor as bishop a cleric who had been elected earlier by the former status, who is of Greek origin, and has supported inconspicuously your communication to Mother Church, so as to settle your issue”.
After the end of the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan of France offered Metropolitan Epiphanius a silver Icon of Panagia Pammakaristos, as a gift by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
