On Saturday, Patriarch Irinej of Serbia completed his visit to Damascus.

The Primate of the Serbian Church had an official meeting with the Patriarch of Antioch and Members of the Holy Synod.

During the meeting, the two parts discussed issues that concern both Churches, the challenges that Christians face in Middle East and Serbia and many more issues of mutual concern.

At the end of the meeting, Patriarch of Serbia was guided around the old city of Damascus and the Great Mosque of Umayyad, one of the largest and oldest mosques in the world, a unique masterpiece of Islamic architecture.

“What we have seen proves that Syria is a country that deserves the best, because it is a place of love”, stated Patriarch Irinej of Serbia.
