Patriarch of Serbia met US Commission on International Religious Freedom

Patriarch Irinej of Serbia met the representatives of the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom on March 3, 2020.

The Patriarch was welcomed by Gayle Manchin, Chair of the Commission on International Religious Freedom, with her associates, Elizabeth Cassidy, Keely Bakken, and Kirsten Lavery. Nadine Maenza, Vice Chair, also participated in the telephone conversation.

Patriarch Irinej was greeted with welcoming words by Manchin, who expressed her joy over the visit of the high delegation of the Serbian Orthodox Church. The Patriarch outlined the position of the Serbian Orthodox Church on various topics related to the Serbian people and the Serbian Orthodox Church.

The meeting was held with the attendance and the participation of Bishop Jovan of Sumadia, member of the Holy Synod of Bishops; Bishop Irinej of East America; Protonamesnik Vasilije Vranic, PhD; Dean of the Cathedral Church of Saint Luke in Washington; as well as Proto-deacon Damjan Bozic, PhD.
