Patriarch Theodore sent his message on the Sunday of Orthodoxy, as taught in Africa by the ancient Patriarchate of Alexandria, preaching in the Cathedral Church of the Annunciation of the Theotokos, a symbol of the Egyptian community.

“We did not keep Orthodoxy in well-adorned iconostases. We are spreading the Orthodox faith all over Africa,” said the Patriarch of Alexandria, pointing out in this way that the Orthodox Church of Africa does not remain in a theoretical dimension of faith, but has the experience through the people that seeks the teachings of the Gospel more than any other region on the Earth.

“On this Sunday of Orthodoxy we dedicate ourselves to the mission,” Patriarch Theodore said during Divine Liturgy, accompanied by Metropolitan Narcissos of Accra, Ghana, and Patriarchal Commissioner of Alexandria, as well as by the new Exarch of the Alexandrian Church in Cyprus, the Bishop Nicodemus of Nicosia.
