Patriarch of Alexandria at the Highlands of Central Tanzania

“Kristo Amefufukka! Kweli Amefufukka!” With the greeting of the Resurrection in Swahili, Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria has received a warm welcome since Wednesday, May 15, 2019, when he visited Central Tanzania, during his pastoral trip there.

On Thursday, May 16, Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa, accompanied by Bishop Agathonikos of Arousha and Central Tanzania  and the Arch-Secretary of the Patriarchate, Archimandrite NIkodimo Totka, visited the area of  Dabanga in the south of the country, near the borders with Zambia, where he held the sanctification of the new founding of the Holy Church of Saint Paisios of Mount Athos (Agioreites) and Saint Lucas the Doctor at the village Masege, as well as the sanctification of the new drilling of the area, which is situated in a 2000 m. highland.

Both constructions are donations by the Brotherhood of Mission of Thessaloniki Abroad by Mr. Nostis Psaras from Thessaloniki.

Immediately after the services, Metropolitan visited the local School.

On Friday, May 17, the Patriarch visited the village Igagitoungou, in Central Tanzania, where he held the sanctification of the opening of the gates of the Holy Church of Transformation of the Savior and Saint Porfirios the Kausokalivitis, a donation of the Brotherhood of Missions of Thessaloniki Abroad.
