Patriarch of Alexandria at Saint Athanasios Parish in Kypseli, Athens

Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria

All those who attended the service at the metochion of Saint Athanasios in Kypseli on July 23, remembered a great figure of Orthodoxy, the late Patriarch of Alexandria, Parthenius III. A service was celebrated to honor his memory, together with the Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria.

The primate of the Patriarchate of Alexandria spoke with words of love for his predecessor, who promoted the Patriarchate of Alexandria with his actions and ideas, bringing the Patriarchate to a prominent position during his ministry.

Thanks to his simplicity, he was affable, and one of his favorite students, the current Patriarch Theodore II, wanted to follow his example, who was deeply moved at the fact that the late Patriarch Parthenius passed away on July 23, 1996, a day that coincides with the passing away of Patriarch Christopher who welcomed him to Port Said, was his teacher and then ordained him.

“May God rest both Patriarchs,” stressed Patriarch Theodore.

The Exarch of the Patriarchate of Alexandria in Athens, Metropolitan Georgios of Guinea, and Metropolitan Dimitrios of Irinoupolis and the holy clergy accompanied Patriarch Theodore in the metochion of Saint Athanasios in Athens.

This great anniversary was attended by many officials, among them the new Consul General of Greece in Melbourne Emmanouil Kakavelakis, the Great Benefactor and Archon of the Patriarchate Aikaterini Sofianou – Belefanti and other offikalioi as well as representatives of organization in Egypt and Africa.

It should be noted that at the end of the service, the Patriarch of Alexandria bestowed the title of Archon Great Referendarius of the Alexandrian Throne upon Spyridon Kokkinakis, coordinator of Decentralized Administration of Attiki.
