Patriarch Daniel on Saturday venerated the reliquary containing a relic of Saint Spyridon the Wonderworker brought from Corfu island to Romania for the feast of Saint Paraskeva.

The relic was brought by a delegation of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Corfu, headed by Metropolitan Nektarios.

The relic stationed in Bucharest for almost seven hours.

Earlier on Saturday, the Patriarch of Romania had a meeting with the Greek delegation at his patriarchal residence. The talks included joint pilgrimage programs in the Metropolis of Corfu.

The Patriarch thanked the Greek delegation for offering the opportunity to Bucharesters to offer their prayers before the relic of Saint Spyridon, a champion of Orthodox faith at the First Ecumenical Council.

“We know that tens of thousands of pilgrims are waiting for you in Iasi, where St Spyridon will meet with St Paraskeva of Epivata in Thrace,” the Patriarch said on October 12.

“We can observe that through Saints our sister Churches strengthen their spiritual communion,” he added.
