Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew

Palm Sunday was celebrated with solemnity and piousness at the Holy Cathedra (Seat) of the Ecumenical Patriarchate at the Fener. Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew officiated the Divine Liturgy held at St. George’s Patriarchal Church, accompanied by Metropolitan Panteleimon of Vrioulon, Chrysostomos of Myra, Theoleptos of Konya, Stephanos of Kallioupolis and Madytos, Elpidophoros of Bursa (Prousa), and Athenagoras of Kidonies.

Αmong those attending the Church were the following: Metropolitan Elder Constantine of Nikaia, Bishop Makarios of Christoupolis, the Consul of Greece in Constantinople George Gaitanis, the Consul General of Ukraine Oleksandr Gaman, Chief Officiales (Judicial Vicars) of the Holy Great Church of Christ, school students along with their teachers from Thessaloniki and a crowd of believers.

Bartholomew welcomed everyone, especially the school students, with a paternal speech, and wished them a great Holy Week, Resurrection and Happy Easter. According to the tradition, the Patriarch offered bay leaves to everyone in the congregation.
