The Editorial Committee of the International Commission for Anglican–Orthodox Theological Dialogue met on June 27-28 at the Canterbury Cathedral.
The delegation of the Orthodox Church consisted of Metropolitan Athenagoras of Belgium and the Exarch of the Netherlands and Luxembourg, who is also the Orthodox Co-chair of the Commission, accompanied by Archdeacon Fr. Philadelphos Kafalis, Dr. Christos Christakis, Orthodox co-secretary of the Commission, and Professor of the School of Theology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Miltiadis Konstantinou.
The delegation of the Anglican Communion consisted of Anglican Co-chair, Archbishop Richard Clarke, who is the primate of the Anglican Church of Ireland, Bishop Graham Usher, Canons Dr. Alison Joyce and Philip Hobson, and Neil Vigers.
The main topic of the meeting was the organization of the forthcoming plenary session of the International Commission for Anglican–Orthodox Theological Dialogue, to be held in England in October.
The Editorial Committee dealt with issues such as euthanasia, end of human life, and the environmental issue that will concern the plenary, which will examine the texts, correct them in order to come to a final agreement and agree on a common line in approaching those issues
In the context of the work of the Editorial Committee, members of the two sides were welcomed by the Archbishop of Canterbury and Primate of All England, Justin Portal Welby on June 28 to his historical headquarters and congratulated them on the progress of the dialogue. The Archbishop of Canterbury hosted an official luncheon at his home and wished them much success.
