Monks congratulate new Mayor of Saint Catherine of Sinai

The monks of the holy Monastery at this mountainous area of Egypt congratulated the new mayor of the city of Saint Catherine of Sinai, retired General Tareq Anani.

On behalf of Archbishop Damianos of Sinai, Faran and Reitho, a representation of the monastic brotherhood, led by the Administrator (dikaios) Symeon, Sacristan Michael and Economos (steward) Ephraim, conveyed the wishes of the Greek Orthodox Holy Monastery, from which the whole area is named, for undertaking his duties.

At the same time, in the presence of the Consultant of the Holy Monastery Antonis Kazamias, they expressed their great gratitude for the interest of the Egyptian government that continuously upgrades the whole area with important works, such as the expansion of the airport of this small town, whose history has inextricably been bound with the Monastery of Alexandrian Saint Catherine of Sinai.

From his part, the new Mayor, Mr. Anani, thanked everyone for the great honor and stressed that he will always stand by the side of the Holy Monastery.
