Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias was welcome at the Vatican by Pope Francis in a warm climate

The meeting with the Pope, who is “a universal inspiration for human values”, as the Minister of Foreign Affairs notes on a twitter post, confirmed Greece-Vatican close relations.

Minister Dendias also met with the Secretariat of State of the Vatican, Archibishop Edgar Peña Parra.

Discussions focused on bilateral relations, issues of regional and international interest, migration, and climate change, according to a post on the ministry’s twitter page.

Later today, the Minister for Foreign Affairs will deliver a speech at the NATO Defence College in Rome regarding Greece’s foreign policy making, NATO’s role and the need to address the challenges in Southern Europe.
