Metropolitan of Ruse: The saints teach us to remain united Orthodox

On the first Sunday of November on Corfu, the ecumenicality of Saint Spyridon, Bishop of Trimythous, is celebrated. The island of Corfu commemorates the miracle of expelling the plague from the island in 1673.

Metropolitan Naum of Ruse from the Bulgarian Orthodox Church presided over the Vespers Service on Saturday while Metropolitans Theoklitos of Vresthena and Nektarios of Corfu concelebrated with the Metropolitan of Ruse.

In fact, Metropolitan Naum of Ruse pointed out that Bulgaria honoured Saint Spyridon by participating in Council of Serdica convened in 343 AD, which defined the territorial boundaries of the Church of Bulgaria.

At the same time, the Metropolitan of Ruse sent a message of unity saying that “we need the intercession of Saint Spyridon in order to preserve unity between the Churches. The saints teach us one thing: we remain united Orthodox!”
