Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine sent a message of support to the people of Lebanon.
“I am deeply saddened by the effects of the devastating explosion in Beirut. I offer Patriarch John of Antioch, the flock, and all the Lebanese people, on behalf of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, my condolences and I send words of prayer to God,” he said.
“May God help the people of Beirut to survive in these terrible days, to overcome the consequences of the disaster, to heal the wounded and to mourn the souls of the diseased! “Let us pray for our brothers and sisters in Lebanon who are in pain,” he added.
