Metropolitan of Kananga: My diamonds are the faithful who shine with faith and holiness

Metropolitan Theodosius of Kananga made a five-day tour in the Bouzoumai and Lomami provinces. The characteristic of this tour was the extremely difficult conditions in which believers live in these areas.

On Saturday afternoon, the priests and the faithful of the parish of Saints Athanasios and Cyril, Patriarchs of Alexandria, welcomed him to the propylaea of the temple and performed the Resurrection Vespers.

On Sunday morning, Metropolitan Theodosius performed an Archieratic Divine Liturgy and visited the villages in the province.

The first village to visit was Lukalaba. Ten kilometers far from the village many motorcyclists were on the road singing and dancing in order to welcome their shepherd. The Metropolitan gave them his blessing, greeted them and thanked them for the reception.

The Metropolitan, among other things, stated that “while we were on our way to the village, I noticed that there were some people near the river searching for something in the mud. I asked what they did there and told me they were looking for diamonds. I do not need such diamonds. My diamonds are you. You who shine like diamonds thanks to your faith and holiness.”

Then he arrived in the city of Mwene-Ditu. On the afternoon of the same day, the Metropolitan’s convoy arrived in the parish of Saint Achilles in Bouzouma. The conditions there for the inhabitants are extremely difficult. The faithful made a large hut of paper for a temple in honor of St. Achilles, Bishop of Larissa.

The school outside the temple was made of grass.

Finally, he visited the city of Kabinda in Lomami province. There the temple is made of grass and mud. The inhabitants demand that a temple and a school should be built.
