Metropolitan of France met Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine

Metropolitan Emmanuel of France met the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, yesterday afternoon in Kyiv. Deputy Foreign Minister Vasyl Bodnar and Archbishop Yevstratiy of Chernihiv and Nizhyn also attended the meeting.

They discussed issues related to State-Church relations in Ukraine and the relations of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Ukraine with the Ecumenical Patriarchate. The Metropolitan of France raised the issue of the restoration works of the Stavropegial Church of St. Andrew in Kyiv. The issue of the COVID-19 pandemic and how it affects the life of the Church was also discussed.

The Metropolitan expressed gratitude to the Ukrainian government and conveyed the wishes and blessing of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to the pious Ukrainian people.

This morning, the Metropolitan of France participated in a memorial service for the victims of the war in Eastern Ukraine from 2014 until today. The ceremony took place in the courtyard of the St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery, presided over by Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine.
