Metropolitan of Belgium ordained deacon in Athens

Metropolitan of Belgium

Metropolitan Athenagoras of Belgium visited Athens today and officiated at the Church of St. Markos Eugenikos in Kato Patisia in order to “welcome onboard” a new member of the clergy.

Moreover, the Metropolitan of Belgium ordained chanter Konstantinos Dedes a deacon, who until now served as the head chanter in the church. He is now a clergyman of the Ecumenical Patriarchate to which the Metropolis of Belgium belongs.

During the ordination, the newly-ordained deacon said that he received the highest honour and that he was responsible for the Priesthood. The Metropolitan of Belgium said that the new mission of the deacon would be difficult, but at the same time, it would be lovely with the love of God. A large number of people, as well as the Metropolitan Athenagoras of Mexico, attended the service.
