Metropolitan Ambrose of Kalavryta and Aegialeia announced his resignation, which will be formally submitted to the Holy Synod tomorrow to begin the process of nominating his successor.

Today the Hierarch performed his farewell service as Metropolitan of Kalavryta, at the Metropolitan church of Kalavryta, and in a brief speech he bid farewell to his flock, officially informing them of his decision to leave the Metropolis after 41 years.

Metropolitan Ambrose of Kalavryta and Aegialeia, born Athanasios Lenis, was born on July 22, 1938 in Athens.

He was elected Metropolitan of Kalavryta and Aigialiea on October 12, 1978, he was enthroned in Aigio on November 19, and a week later, November 25, he was enthroned in Kalavryta.
