Metropolitan Agathangelos of Fanari: It is time for prayer and utter silence

© ikivotos.gr

Brothers, I feel that the world is covered with the new darkness from the sixth hour until the ninth hour. We may be unsure of what is happening on earth.

It is a time for prayer and an UTTER SILENCE, with repentance and defeat, humiliation and sacrifice to the point of giving our lives for our brothers and friends, time to return to our Father.

It is an unprecedented tragedy.

I feel that God, considering what is happening and enforced worldwide, does not allow us, as was the case of Venerable Mary of Egypt, to enter His sanctuary.

He may be “tired” of defending Him as if He needed it.

He is the One who filled our daily life with so many blessings! So many gifts! He is the One who enriched us with His love! With the daily miracle, the bread and the wine become the Body and Blood of Christ.

And we keep asking Him every day to come down from the Cross to prove His divinity and power.

The time has arrived for God to remain silent. From the depths of my heart, I write to you that I am crying, too.

I have not been able to cry for a very long time for myself, my weaknesses, my Christ. I do not have the strength or the courage to splutter, “Lord, why?”

I have found comfort and solace in the prayer of our Holy Father Saint John of Damascus that I want you to publish and pray all together for He is our hope and our life.

For without Him we would not be able to live. For He gives us the strength to hope.

Thank you. I wish you all strength and health.

With love,

† Agathangelos, Metropolitan of Fanari
