The Church commemorates today Saint Leo, Bishop of Catania, Saint Agatho of Rome, Pope of Rome, Martyrs Didymos, Nemesios and Potamios, in Cyprus.
Saint Leo was born in Ravenna to a noble family. From a very young age, he was distinguished for his steadfast faith, missionary zeal and pious life. He was ordained as presbyter and then became Bishop of Catania in Sicily by popular demand.
By the Grace of God, he managed to clean his diocese of all the remnants of paganism and idolatry while eradicating all habits related to the occult and magic. The Lord deemed him worthy to receive the gift of healing so that crowds of ailing people could be cured and had their body and soul revitalized.
After his passing away, the myrrh-gashing relic of Saint Leo was transferred to the Church of Santa Lucia, a temple established by him, and to this day keeps gushing myrrh.
