Memory of Saint Georgios of Choziba from Cyprus

By Bishop Grigorios of Mesaoria

The Church commemorates today Saint Georgios of Choziba from Cyprus.

Saint Georgios lived in the 6th century AD. He was born in Lefkara (Cyprus) to devout parents. Later, when his parents died, Saint Georgios went to Palestine to meet his brother Irakleidis, who was monk at the Lavra of Kalamon.

He went to the famous Monastery of Choziba, where he practiced every day in order to set an example for practicing brothers and fathers. By his miracles and his divinely inspired words, Saint Georgios comforted and saved many.
