Mayor of Athens Kostas Bakoyannis

The mayor of Athens, Kostas Bakoyannis, visited and congratulated the Assistant Bishop of the Archdiocese of Athens, Symeon, on his election as Metropolitan of Fthiotida.

As he said, he had collaborated with the newly-elected Metropolitan in previous years and knew very well the “great and multidimensional work” carried out on the side of the Archbishop.

“You were always by the side of those in need. You were a spiritual leader who linked the Church with the society and its problems,” Kostas Bakoyannis stressed. He added, “It is a great pleasure that a distinguished hierarch like you, whom I have the honour to call my friend, will serve as Metropolitan in Fthiotida, which is a place I love and have served in recent years when I was regional governor of Central Greece. I am sure that your flock in Fthiotida is as happy as I am and looks forward to welcoming you.”
