IAO focuses on the survival of the endangered Christian element in the Middle East

The head of the Greek delegation of the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy (IAO), Maximos Charakopoulos, visited the President of the Hellenic Republic, Prokopis Pavlopoulos, in order to thank him for his support in the IAO’s work.

After the meeting, Mr. Charakopoulos said that the President of Hellenic Republic stood by the IAO “in a time of serious shocks, recalling that Greece is a pillar in the Orthodox world”.

He also emphasized that the IAO focuses its attention on the Middle East, “seeking the survival of the endangered Christian element from its primordial roots.”

Finally, the IAO promotes an “open and fruitful dialogue with representatives of other religions, such as those of Islam, always with a view to the peaceful settlement of conflicts and the rapprochement of peoples and cultures”.
