Holy Synod of Church of Greece: Strict measures due to COVID-19

Strict sanitary measures have been in force since yesterday at the Synodal Palace of the Church of Greece in order to stem the spread of the coronavirus.

According to an official note of the Holy Synod, which has been posted on a wall in a prominent place, the strict measures that apply in all places of the Synodal Palace are documented in detail.

Some of the measures are the following: Visitors are allowed to enter only “for official purposes”, temperature screening will be mandatory for those entering the building, hands must be disinfected with hand sanitiser and, of course, the use of a mask is obligatory for employees and visitors inside the building.

The note also states that “gatherings of employees must be avoided and, therefore, we ask everyone to remain in their offices and not to move around except for work reasons or reasons of personal hygiene.” It is, thus, clear that the Church has taken the relevant restrictive measures very seriously.

In addition, the note provides for the recording of contact information of visitors and for the fines that will be imposed in case of non-observance of the relevant measures. Finally, they ask “every church employee, under his or her own responsibility, to take care of himself or herself, as well as of his or hers fellow human beings, by the grace of God and protection of all Saints.”
