Hierarchs of Russian Orthodox Church passed away from coronavirus

Last Saturday, Metropolitan Isidor of Yekaterinodar and Kuban, born as Nikolai Vasilyevich, died of the coronavirus.

According to the announcement of the Metropolis, “On August 8, 2020, after a short serious illness, at the age of eighty, the head of the Supreme Ecclesiastical Court of the Russian Orthodox Church, the Head of the Metropolis of Kuban Mubarak, Metropolitan Isidor, passed away.” Today, August 10, the burial ceremony of the hierarch will take place.

On the same day, afflicted by the same disease, 79-year-old Archimandrite German (Chesnokov) from the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius, located in the town of Sergiyev Posad, 70 km northeast of Moscow. In recent months, the monk had been relieved from office at the monastery due to his health condition.
