The procedures for the conversion of Hagia Sophia into a mosque are accelerated as the sign “Museum of Hagia Sophia” has been removed today.

The Constantinople Police Chief, Zafer Aktaş, was present, noting that “we came here today to inspect the security measures to ensure that our citizens can pray comfortably and peacefully on July 24.”

At the same time, according to Turkish media, work was launched on Hagia Sophia, with technical crews starting from the dome outside the monument.

Erdogan will preach on July 24

Meanwhile, next Friday, July 24, the first Muslim prayer is expected to take place in Hagia Sophia. According to a Bild’s report, Turkish President Erdogan will preach that day in order to… raise his popularity, which has been dwindling more and more lately.

“He is not just turning his back on international criticism for his decision to turn Hagia Sophia from a museum into a mosque. Not only does he just want to pray on July 24 when it will open for the first time as a mosque to the public, but he plans to preach,” Bild reported.

It is recalled that, according to information, almost all the tickets have already been sold out, as many believers from the Muslim countries rush to travel to Constantinople, on July 24, for the first prayer. Hundreds of people from all over Turkey flock to Constantinople to see and take a picture in front of Hagia Sophia, following the decision to turn the monument into a mosque.
