Greek Minister of Education and Religious Affairs to meet Archbishop of America

Minister of Education and Religious Affairs Niki Kerameus will travel to New York. As part of her visit to the USA, the minister will hold a meeting with Archbishop Elpidophoros of America.

Following the invitation of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for the 2019 Climate Action Summit, she will attend the track meeting of the UN summit as a speaker on “Education as key for the protection of cultural heritage from climate change.”

According to the ministry’s announcement, Niki Kerameus will meet the Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs, Marie Royce, the President of the Institute of International Education, Allan Goodman, the President of the AFS Intercultural Programs, Daniel Obst, the Federation of Hellenic Societies of Greater New York, Associate Professor of Classical Art and Archaeology at Columbia University, Ioannis Mylonopoulos, Head of the Greek Studies Program at Columbia University, and Archbishop Elpidophoros of America.

The minister will also visit the Saint Demetrios Astoria School and the Consulate General of Greece in New York.

An informational debate on “Greece, a training center in Southeast Europe” has been organized by the New York Bureau of Public Diplomacy. Greek correspondents to the UN (from New York and Washington), members of a delegation of journalists from Greece, who will be in New York, as well as Greek-American media in New York (printed and electronic) have been invited to attend the debate.
