During the briefing of the journalists, the Government Spokesman, Stelios Petsas, reiterated that the issue of Hagia Sophia was not an affair between Greece and Turkey but a global affair. As he stressed, Hagia Sophia is a world heritage site while noting that many countries reacted, culminating in the US State Departement’s statement. Stelios Petsas said that such a decision would drive a wedge between the Christians and Turkey. “We believe that the Turkish leadership take seriously into consideration all these facts and we wait for its actions.”
