Former Archbishop of Thyateira Gregorios passed away

Former Archbishop of Thyateira Gregorios passed away at the age of 92.

The elder bishop has been suffering from serious health problems in recent years. A few months ago, Gregorios was replaced due to his age and health problems by the then Metropolitan of the Dardanelles, Nikitas, who then became the new Archbishop of Thyateira.

Former Archbishop of Thyateira Gregorios was born in Cyprus in 1928. He was tonsured monk in 1951 and then ordained deacon in 1953 and presbyter in 1959. In 1970 he was elected Bishop of Tropaion and in 1988 he was elected Archbishop of Thyateira and Great Britain.
