The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America announces the celebratory festivities for the feast day of Saint Bartholomew, patron saint of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, to be held on June 11, 2020.

Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, Exarch of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, has asked Bishop Apostolos of Medeia to coordinate the planned activities for the day.

In the morning, at 10:00 a.m. EDT, the Archbhishop will preside over the Divine Liturgy from the Hierarchal Throne (Chorostasia) at the parish of Saint Barbara in New York City.

At 2:00 p.m. EDT, Archbishop Elpidophoros will preside over a Great Doxology from the Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, assisted by Bishop Apostolos and Father Andreas Vithoulkas, Chancellor of the Archdiocese. Invited guests include Dr. Konstantinos Koutras, Counsel General of Greece; Alexis Phedonos-Vadet, Consul General of Cyprus; Dr. Anthony J. Limberakis, National Commander of the Order of Saint Andrew the Apostle, Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate; Argyris Vassiliou, Chairman of Leadership 100; Paulette Poulos, Executive Director of Leadership 100; and Maria Logus, National President of the Ladies Philoptochos Society.

Following the Doxology, Archbishop Elpidophoros will offer celebratory remarks commemorating this important date in the life of the Archdiocese and as an honor to his Spiritual Father and mentor. Following the Archbishop’s remarks, Dr. Koutras will speak on behalf of the Hellenic Republic and congratulatory letters will be read from Mr. Phedonos-Vadet and Dr. Limberakis.

Both the Divine Liturgy and the Great Doxology will be live-streamed on the social media channels of the Archdiocese. The Archbishop of America encourages each parish to share these events on their own channels and to join him in prayer for many years of health and ministry for Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
