Erdogan: ‘Istanbul’ will never be again Constantinople

Recep Tayyip Erdogan

New provocative statements were made today by Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the occasion of the Christchurch mosque shootings and the manifesto of the perpetrator.

According to protothema.gr, the President of Turkey was this morning at the Dardanelles and in a speech he attacked those who called Istanbul, as Constantinople, like the 28-year-old New Zealand perpetrator.

“‘Istanbul’ will never be again Constantinople. We have been here for 1,000 years. Anyone who attempts to remove us from here will be the final nail on the coffin, as we did in the past,” said the Turkish President.
