Emmanuel of France: “We pray for Unity of the Church”

At Saint Stephen Metropolitan Church of Paris, on Sunday of the 318 Holy Fathers of the First Ecumenical Synod, Metropolitan Emmanuel of France presided the liturgy, assisted by Archpriest Pierre Kazarian.

In his sermon, the Metropolitan spoke about the First Ecumenical Synod and the contribution of the Holy and God-blessed Fathers to the unity and establishment of the Church in its early beginnings, immediately after the great persecutions of the Church for the first three centuries.

Characteristically, he said that “Our ministry in the Church is common for all the generations over the centuries because things change over time, but the Church as a steady place of salvation protects us and leads us to Christ”.

“In today’s difficult times, amidst wars and persecutions of Christians, and the danger of division and schisms, it is necessary to do our best so as to preserve the spirit of unity”, concluded Metropolitan of France.
